The Grade I National Hunt season in the UK runs from November to April in the UK, while selected other races take place over the fences between June and April nationwide.
Uttoxeter is home to one of the most famous and popular National Hunt racecourses, hosting at least two notable race meetings every single year.

Uttoxeter Racecourse is a unique, left-handed oval shaped course that covers one-mile and two-and-a-half furlongs in length, and one that also features a striking peak over the iconic Clump Hill.
The racecourse itself was built back in 1907, with five days of racing held during May, October and December in the subsequent 12 months.
By 1966, the course was in desperate need of modernisation, with the Horserace Betting Levy Board announcing a £167,000 investment for the purpose of making structural and cosmetic pages that year. In 1967, the refurbished course saw Champion Jockey Josh Gifford equal Fred Winter’s record of 121 winners in a single season at Uttoxeter on June 15th, in front of a baying crowd and bathed in sunshine.
In 1997, the famous horse owned by Uttoxeter’s chairman Sir Stanley Clarke (Lord Gyllene) claimed second place in the iconic Grand National at Aintree, producing a winning margin of 25 lengths and the most impressive performance in more than 20 years.
There are two notable race meetings held at Uttoxeter, including the Midlands Grand National Chase.
Typically held in March, this listed race is open to runners aged five years and older, while it covers a total distance of four miles, one furlong and 110 yards.
The second meeting is the Summer Cup, which is typically held at Uttoxeter Racecourse in either June or July.
Another chase event, this is also open to five-year old runners and over, although it’s contested across the shorter distance of three miles, two furlongs and 13 yards.
