Travel to and from Butlins in style with our minibuses

Every British family has heard of a Butlins holiday, most people have even been on a Butlins Holiday themselves. Why? Because they are a fantastic family holiday and they’re especially perfect for families with young children. Each Butlins resort has everything holiday goers need to enjoy their holiday, all in one place, which is ideal for anyone who doesn’t drive, or have a car. But of course, there is the problem of how to get there and back home again. Don’t worry, we have the perfect solution for you.

How to get to Butlins: planning your journey

How to get to Butlins? There are lots of ways you can travel to and from your Butlins holiday resort, which one you choose will depend on what your needs and budget are. Let’s take a look at the available options:

  • Drive: You can drive yourself to the resort using your own car. This gives you a little freedom when you are on holiday as you can drive to locations outside of the resort if you need too. However, it does mean you need to have access to a car and you need a designated driver. That driver will need to know the route (and an alternative router in case of any road issues), as well as ensuring the car is up to the drive, which could be hours long.
  • Train: Another option is to travel by train which is a quick and convenient method of public transportation. Train tickets aren’t very expensive, so this is a good option for anyone not wanting to spend a lot of money. Trains, however, don’t travel directly to Butlins holiday resorts, so you would need to travel to the closest stop and find a way of getting from there, to the resort, with your holiday luggage. Most people would use a taxi or another method of public transportation, so this increases the overall travel costs.
  • Coach: An alternative to the train is a coach that does go directly to the Butlins resort (or much closer). This is likely to be the slower option because a coach will most likely have to make a number of stops along the way to collect other passengers. Coaches like this are not as widely available as your usual public transport, so you’d need to book well in advance. It is also very likely you’ll need to travel to the coach collection point, as these will be few and far between, which again, could increase your travel costs.
  • Minibus Hire: The best option (we think) is to hire a minibus to take you to and from your Butlins resort. You don’t need a car, no one needs to step-up as designated driver, you’ll be collected from your home and taken directly to the resort, and there will be plenty of space for you and your luggage. Its an all-round win-win situation.

The Benefits of Getting to Butlins via Minibus Hire

As we’ve discussed, there are lots of ways of getting to Butlins, but we really do believe that minibus hire is the best option for you, and here’s why:

  • Cost. Minibus hire initially appears to be one of the more expensive options to travelling to your holiday resort, but is it? If you travel by car you have to pay for fuel and if the journey is long this will take it toll on your car, which may lead to further expenses in your next service. Travelling by public transport seems much cheaper, but them you have to consider the additional expenses involved, such as the cost of travelling from your home to the public transport collection point and from the drop-off point to the actual resort. When you add in all these additional charges the price difference is either gone completely, or so marginal that its hardly worth the extra work.
  • Time. Minibus hire will collect you from your home and drop you off at the resort, they will only make the necessary stops to re-fuel or to break for the lavatory as and when you choose too. Therefore, the route is direct and as quick as it can be. This is the same for anyone who is driving themselves in their own car too. but the same cannot be said of someone using public transport. Having to abide to the public transport schedules alone delays the journey time, but if you also factor in the additional stops they make, plus the time it takes you to travel to and from their drop-oof points, your journey time could be almost double.
  • Stress. Getting to Butlins via minibus is easy and completely stress free. All you have to do is book your minibus and the rest is done for you. When you travel by car you have the mammoth task of preparing your car for the journey and the worry that if something were to go wrong with your car just before or during the journey, your holiday could potentially be ruined. A minibus service will always have another minibus on hand to take you to your holiday resort. The stress involved with public transport is even bigger. There’s lots more planning involved, you need to move from one method of transportation to another and you have heavy luggage to cart around with you.

Butlins Holidays

Butlins holidays began in 1936, created by Billy Butlin.  Billy Butlin went on holiday to Barry Island and felt sorry for the families stuck in boring guest houses that provided no entertainment.  So he decided to create a “place of colour and happiness”, a resort where families would be provided with activities and entertainment would be provided so that they could really enjoy their time together.

Since, Butlins has become a family name and British holidays were transformed forever.  Not only was this the start of more fun family holiday resorts, but it also marked the start of exemplary service and entertainment, with the introduction of the infamous Butlins Redcoats.

Butlins Resort Locations

Butlins established their first holiday resort in Skegness. Now they have three resorts across the UK, Skegness, Bognor Regis and Minehead.

  • Bognor Regis: located in the stunning South Downs National Park, in the traditional seaside town of Bognor Regis. This resort boasts a new art-deco swimming pool with features like the Helter Skelter and Stick of Rock water slides. The resort has a variety of restaurants and shops, giving you everything you need to enjoy your holiday, all in one place!
  • Minehead: based in the beautiful hilly moors of Exmoor, Somerset, this is the biggest of the three Butlins resorts. This resort boasts a stunning sandy beach and Butlins iconic chalets. With a massive vintage funfair, a swimming pool with all kinds of slides and activities, the Minehead location has everything the Bognor Regis location has, and much more!
  • Skegness: the first location to open, this resort sits next to a gorgeous sandy beach and provides its guests with an abundance of activities.

All three locations provide live entertainments and a variety of activities for all the family. They each have a selection of shops, bars and restaurants, to make your stay as comfortable as it possibly can be. Butlins provides a range of activities for children, including things like: a funfair, swimming pools aerial adventures, laser tag, driving school, and a variety of sporting activities. But, there’s also plenty for adults too.

Why minibus hire is perfect for a Butlins Holiday

Minibus hire is perfect for most holiday destinations, but they are especially perfect for Butlins holidays. Why? Because at a Butlins holiday resort you don’t really need your car. Everything you need is included in the resort and if you did want to venture further than the resort, there is always public transport closely located, and taxi services available to help you do just that. Ultimately, travelling by minibus will make your holiday easier and stress-less, meaning you can enjoy your time with your family more.
